I HATE COMPUTERS!!!
I shoulda been a…sanitation engineer. Or something like that. In my to-do list of fixing computers, I have 4 “customers”. In order of request, Kate, my mother, my step-sister, and my neighbor. Also, my dad will eventually need my help to set up a new computer at his office (that order is standing between requests 1 and 2). Then, there’s my mom’s web site that I have been volunteered for. 40+ hours a week isn’t enough.
This is where being good-hearted and nice gets you bitten in the ass every time. You have a skill that few people have. You get paid to do it until you’re almost sick of it. And then you’re asked to do it. Presumably for free, or for a barter of sorts. And, being me, I can’t charge for it or even trade for it. It’s something I should share. A vicious cycle.
I could bitch about it and be an asshole (I think I just called myself out on that one), say “no” and be an asshole, or just do it and hope for something in return and be a selfish asshole.
It’s late. I’m wound up. I should try and get some sleep.
